Blog: Meg Hatch Photography

Welcome!

Photography is about capturing what matters most to you. My focus lies in high school seniors, families, headshots, and personal branding, as well as creative projects that fuel my passion.

While each session has its own approach, they all share a common goal—to represent you well and to tell your story. From celebrating milestones to creating images that inspire confidence, every detail is tailored to you.

Here, I’ll share my process, offer tips, and highlight the lasting value of meaningful photographs.

Thank you for being here—I look forward to sharing more with you!

Why I Update My Senior Guide Every Single Year

Every spring, before the new senior season kicks off, I sit down and do something I genuinely look forward to: I update my Senior Guide.

It's a labor of love.

I'll be honest, I'm still in the thick of editing this year's guide, but I just couldn't wait to reveal the new cover. Choosing it was genuinely one of the hardest decisions, because the truth is, I had at least one image from every single senior session that could have been a magazine cover. Every. Single. One. That's not me being sentimental — that's just the caliber of the seniors I get to work with.

You are all that girl.

You are all that guy.

You are all those people.

This guide is proof.

But alas, I have to pick one photograph for the cover. This year, I am happy to share my cover image of Kendra Eubanks, Windham High School, Class of 2026. Kendra was a blast to photograph in Portland's Old Port. She brought a variety of wonderful clothing options and (even more importantly) her positive & exuberant energy, and that comes through in her gorgeous gallery.

"Hey Meg, what is this guide you're talking about?"

I'm so glad you asked!

The moment you book your session, this 22+ page guide lands straight in your inbox... because why wait? The daydreaming and planning should start immediately. These pages are all about preparing for the best senior photography experience in Maine. You'll see outfit ideas, location inspiration, what to bring, what not to bring... you name it.

Let's consider it your official Senior Season kickoff.

The guide is filled entirely with images from last year's sessions, which means there's a good chance you'll spot someone you know; a classmate, a friend, maybe even your older sibling. That's completely intentional. I want you to see real seniors from your own community, not stock photos or images from somewhere across the country. This is Maine. These are your people.

Yeah, this IS Maine and these ARE your people.

Beyond the photos, you'll find answers to every question you and your parents didn't even know you had, wardrobe tips and inspiration to help you show up feeling your absolute best, specialty portrait options for making your session truly yours, and my honest thoughts on what it takes to create images that are authentic, stunning, and so undeniably you.

Because that's what this is all about. Not stiff. Not posed within an inch of its life. Real, confident, gorgeous & completely you.

So scroll through, get inspired, and let's make something beautiful together. Your senior year deserves nothing less.

Why wait? Let's get you on the calendar now!

I can't wait to take your picture,

~Meg
